5K RACE AND FUN RUN

Race While 100 Balloons Take to the Skies

READINGTON, NJ --- Talk about a perfect partner for producing a summertime 5K race: Advil®, a leading provider of pain and allergy relief, will be sponsoring the annual 5K race at this summer’s QuickChek New Jersey Festival of Ballooning as part of the Festival’s “Health & Wellness Day” at Solberg Airport in Readington on Sunday, July 27.

The “Advil® Running with the Balloons” 5K Race and Family Fun Run offers a setting like no other: hitting the ground running through the largest summertime hot air balloon and music festival in North America while 100 hot air balloons are in the skies above you.

Propel Workout Water and SNY are additional sponsors of the race, a USATF-NJ sanctioned Grand Prix event worth 500 points.

The flat, fast, grass and street course takes runners right past the balloon launch field while Sunday morning’s mass hot air balloon ascension takes place and finishes in the heart of the Festival. The top male finisher and the top female finisher will each win a free ride in a hot air balloon.

Registration includes an all-day pass into the Festival with access to the early morning and evening hot air balloon ascensions, free parking and lawn seating to Sunday afternoon’s Joan Jett & the Blackhearts concert. Team entries are permitted. Race time is 8:00 a.m. followed by the Family Fun Run at 9:00 a.m.

The top three overall male and female finishes will receive non-cash prizes with medals presented to the top three finishers in the following age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-45, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and over 70.

“We are thrilled to have Advil be part of our fifth annual race, they are a natural fit for our Health and Wellness Day activities,” said Festival Executive Producer Howard Freeman. “We take great pride in offering fitness options for all of our attendees, beginning with sunrise yoga, Zumba and jazzercise to the unique experience of Running with the Balloons in the middle of the Festival.”

In keeping with the Festival’s belief in “doing well by doing good,” a portion of the proceeds will once again benefit the Center for Educational Advancement (CEA) for people with special needs in Flemington and the National MS Society.

The 32nd annual QuickChek New Jersey Festival of Ballooning in Association with PNC Bank,  July 25-26-27 at Solberg Airport in Readington, NJ, features twice a day mass ascensions of more than 100 sport and special shaped hot air balloons from around the world, live concerts, and 39 hours of family entertainment and attractions.
