New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning Poster Art Contest
Contest Timeline
- All entries are due March 10, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. ET.
- Semi-finalists will be announced via social media on March 16, 2023.
- Public voting will occur via the festival’s Facebook page from March 16 through March 23, 2023.
- Online voting closed on March 23, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. ET.
- The winner will be announced by the New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning on March 24, 2023.
Poster Guidelines
- The poster design must be 18” x 24” at a minimum of 300 dpi with a trim dimension of 18” x 24”.
- A ¼” bleed around all sides is permitted.
- High-Res, camera-ready art. Accepted file types, JPEG, PDF, or PNG format
- The following text must be included in the design:
“40th Anniversary New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning”
- Space must be left to incorporate marquee talent (headlining bands, artists, etc.) and prime sponsors
The design should include the following creative elements:
- Hot-air balloon(s)
- Live music
- Family fun
- Reflective of the beautiful rural setting in Hunterdon County
- Modern feel while capturing the essence of the festival’s 40-year history
- The poster must be original work.
- The design must include the New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning logo
- The logo can be recreated by the artist or downloaded here.
- Posters can be created via any medium, but the submission must be digital.
- All entries must include a title.
- One entry per person.
Judging Criteria:
Each of the following elements will be judged on a scale of 1 – 5 points, with “1” meaning emerging
skill and “5” meaning expert skill, to determine finalists.
Originality of Design
- Is the design unique?
- Is the design unexpected?
- Is the design innovative?
Clarity of Theme
- Does the design clearly represent the festival?
- Does the theme of ballooning, music, and fun come through?
- Is the design easily understood and engaging?
Technical Application
- Is the design presented with intentionality?
- Is the image high resolution and “camera ready”?
- Does the design contain copyrighted elements?
- Are the colors imbalanced?
- Is the design incomplete?
A unique use of Text and Logo
- Are the text and logo included in a creative way?
- Does the artist use a complete version of the logo and text?
Artistic Expression
- Does the design have a clear connection to the theme?
- Does the design inspire conversation?
- Does the design leave a lasting impression?
